Coulomb’s Law
The force between two electric charges is directly proportional to the product of the magnitude of the charges (q1 and q2) and inversely proportional to the square of the distance (r) between them. So, according to the coulomb’s law:
F α
or
F = K
Where K is the constant of proportionality.
How Friction Charges a Body? The process of rubbing does not create any new charges. When we rub two bodies against each other, then some negatively charged electrons are transferred from one body to another. Consequently, the substance which loses negatively charged electrons acquires positive charge, and the substance which gains negatively charged electrons acquires negative charge. |
Principle of Conservation of Electric Charge
The principle of conservation of electric charge states that electric charge can neither be created nor be destroyed in an isolated system i.e. the total electric charge in an insulated system is conserved.
